The 5% Showcase

India's Largest Open Knowledge Sharing Initiative for Schools.

Presented by The Schools of India Summit · Concept & Framework · Year One, 2026

Share one idea. Inspire a thousand schools. Help every child flourish.

01

The Philosophy

Every school has mastered something. No school has mastered everything. If every school openly shared just five percent of what it has learnt, the entire education ecosystem would become stronger.

That is the whole idea, and it is deliberately modest. We are not asking any school to reveal how it operates, or to hand over its advantage. We are asking for one practice. The five percent it has genuinely worked out.

Five percent is achievable in any school, at any budget, in any city. Alone it is quiet. Aggregated across hundreds of schools and made searchable, it becomes an education system that teaches itself.

A school that is not selected has still contributed to the Knowledge Library. Nothing was lost. That is why they submit again next year.
02

What the Showcase Is

An open call to every school in India to share one practice that works. Submissions are free, the format is light, and everything shared enters a permanent, searchable, public library.

01

Schools share their five percent

One practice, one submission. What the problem was, what they did, what changed.

02

A selection panel curates

Twenty submissions are selected for the National Showcase. Every valid submission enters the Library.

03

Twenty schools present at the Summit

Five minutes each. TED format: problem, idea, implementation, results, takeaways.

04

Everything is published, free

Each presentation becomes a PDF, a video, a podcast episode, a blog post and a case study.

05

The Knowledge Library grows

Searchable by subject, by challenge, by school type. Free to every school in India, forever.

The Showcase is the annual harvest. The Knowledge Library is the asset. Never confuse the two.
03

Six Categories

Broad enough that every school finds a home, specific enough that submissions are comparable. Category F exists because the best ideas rarely fit a box.

A

Learning & Student Development

Anything that changes what happens for the child.

Academic Innovation · Personalised Learning · Assessment · Reading · STEM · AI · Projects · Performing Arts · Sports · Student Leadership · Wellbeing

B

School Leadership & Culture

How the adults in the building work, lead and relate.

Teacher Development · School Culture · Parent Engagement · Community · Leadership · Student Voice

C

Operations & Systems

The unglamorous machinery that decides whether everything else works.

Admissions · Finance · Transport · ERP · Timetable · HR · Security · Operations

D

Technology

Tools genuinely in daily use, not pilots or plans.

AI · Automation · Digital Learning · Data · Communication

E

Sustainability

What the school does beyond its own walls.

Environment · Energy · Community Projects · CSR

F

Wildcard

Something nobody has thought of.

Anything that does not fit above, and should not have to.

04

Selected for National Showcase

Twenty schools are selected each year. They are not winners, because nobody lost. They are the schools whose contribution the panel chose to put on the national stage.

What selected schools receive

National Showcase Certificate

Formal recognition, signed by the Advisory Council.

Presentation Slot at the Summit

Five minutes on the main stage in front of 500 school leaders.

Professional Video

A properly produced film of their practice, theirs to keep and use.

Website Feature

A permanent, credited page in the Knowledge Library.

Digital Badge

'National Showcase School 2026' for their website, marketing and admissions material.

Media Coverage

Featured across TSOI channels and eight media partners.

Book Feature

Included in the annual published compendium of Indian school practice.

Podcast Episode

A long-form conversation about the practice and how it was built.

And every contributing school receives

This is the structural difference. In a competition, the schools that do not win receive nothing and never return. Here, every school that contributes receives permanent public credit — so the pool grows every year instead of shrinking.
05

Five Minutes, Exactly.

TED format. No slide overload, no institutional preamble, no thanking the management. Five minutes, five beats, then off. The discipline is what makes twenty presentations watchable rather than exhausting.

PROBLEM

What was not working. Be specific and honest.

IDEA

What you decided to try.

IMPLEMENTATION

How you actually did it, including what went wrong.

RESULTS

What changed. Numbers if you have them, observation if you do not.

TAKEAWAYS

What another school should know before trying this.

What happens to every presentation afterwards

Nothing is allowed to end on stage. Each of the twenty presentations is converted into a full set of assets, published free.

PDF Case Study

Downloadable, structured, citable.

Video

The stage recording, professionally edited.

Podcast Episode

Long-form, in the contributor's own voice.

Blog Article

Written up for search and sharing.

Website Feature

Permanent page in the Knowledge Library.

YouTube & LinkedIn

Distributed where school leaders already are.

06

The Knowledge Library

This is the part that matters most, and the part that nobody else can build. A free, public, searchable library of proven practice from real Indian schools. Not theory, not consultancy output, not a ministry framework. Practice that worked, documented by the people who ran it.

How a school uses it

A principal in Nagpur has a transport problem. She searches 'Transport'. She finds four schools that solved it. One is a similar size, similar city, similar budget. She reads the case study, watches the six-minute video, downloads the PDF. The contributing school's name, city and contact are right there. She calls them.

What every entry carries

School logo & name

Full credit, permanently.

City & board

So schools can find comparable contexts.

Contributor name

The individual who built it, named.

Contact

So the conversation can continue directly.

Video

Watch it in six minutes.

Downloadable PDF

Take it into your next leadership meeting.

Searchable by what a school actually needs

Math · Reading · Sports · Admissions · Transport · Assessment · AI · Teachers · Parenting · Culture · ERP · Leadership · Wellbeing
07

Submit Your 5%

Complete the submission below. It takes under half an hour, and everything you share enters the free, public Knowledge Library.

08

How Schools Are Selected

Seven criteria, applied by a selection panel drawn from the Advisory Council and category specialists. The panel curates; it does not rank.

CriterionWhat the panel looks for
ImpactDid something measurably change for children, teachers or the school?
InnovationIs this a genuinely different way of doing it?
ReplicabilityCould another school actually do this, with the resources they have?
EvidenceIs there proof, in any form, that it worked?
ScalabilityDoes it hold up beyond one classroom or one year?
PresentationIs it explained clearly enough to be useful to a stranger?
OriginalityIs this the school's own work?
Replicability carries the most weight. A brilliant practice that only works in a school with unusual resources helps nobody. A modest practice any school could copy tomorrow is worth more to the Library.
09

Terms & Conditions

Written plainly, because schools will read them and they need to trust what they are agreeing to.

In plain language: You keep your idea. You keep the credit. You keep the right to use it however you wish. We get permission to publish it so other schools can learn from it. That is the entire arrangement.
